The KURENAI Kendogi is made using a special soft mesh lining, which makes it extremely soft and comfortable to wear. It also helps sweat evaporate more easily, meaning the Kendogi dries quickly after practice.
It is perfect for Kendoka looking for a traditional yet light Kendogi for tournaments, grading, or regular training.
The Kendogi also features a vertical back seam for increased comfort.
Presenting a smart, dignified appearance while remaining relatively lightweight and comfortable, the KURENAI Kendo Hakama is made from premium grade Gokujouhin Sei-Aizome fabric.
The KURENAI Hakama is a great choice for Kendoka looking for a lighter, fast drying cotton Hakama that still has the beautiful traditional appearance of genuine Aizome.
KURENAI is the first genuine Sei-Aizome cotton Hakama to use our popular Pleat-Lock stitching. Each important pleat is fixed in place by two rows of stitching, one row on the inside of the pleat and one on the outer crease, helping the shape stay clean and crisp.
This means KURENAI looks sharp when worn, and folding after practice becomes much easier because the pleats naturally fall back into place.
This set includes 1 x KURENAI Shoaizome Lightweight Kendogi and 1 x KURENAI Shoaizome Cotton Pleat-Lock Kendo Hakama.
Because KURENAI is dyed with genuine Aizome, the colour will bleed. The indigo dye may rub off or stain objects, other clothing, and the wearer’s body. This is a normal and natural feature of genuine Aizome Kendo uniforms.
Please take care when washing. We recommend hand washing separately in cold water, without soap or detergent.
KURENAI is ideal for Kendoka who want the appearance and character of genuine indigo dyed Kendo wear, but prefer a lighter and more breathable uniform for regular use.
With its smart appearance, genuine Aizome colour, and comfortable construction, KURENAI is a strong choice for Shiai, grading, seminars, and regular practice.

Got amazing help picking the right size and type of kendogi and hakama for my requirements and I have to say, I love it! It feels great on me, definitely feels like a premium uniform but also isnt too thick and stuffy! Something I want to save for special keiko but cant help and wear It all the time! I just love it, I haven't use it yet but I can't wait to take it to the dojo! The pictures cannot show how beautiful the blue shade is! Really good product and a decent price. I've now used this gi 3 times and I haven't posted a review until now because I like to see how things are in use before I do a review. It fits really well, is extremely comfortable and is brilliant for repeated practices. It really doesn't feel like a lined gi at all because it's so lightweight. I will buy another one soon so I have two for the summer.
These dogi are great! They’re lightweight and comfortable and look absolutely stunning. They don’t fade to purple and they keep a great colour.
As usual the service provided was second to none! I had a specific request for embroidery, and a minor issue with website exchange rates and pricing, but once again all I needed to do was make direct contact, and all my problems were quickly sorted. Hakama and kendogi arrived very promptly and exactly as I had requested. The quality is perfectly as described and perhaps even more impressive in the flesh. Absolutely wonderful uniform. Light weight and extremely quick drying. The inner lining makes this the most comfortable genuine cotton uniform I've warn.

Very happy with this Kendogi. Lightweight but still feels good quality. The real deal Aizome too when you use this or wash it so you get the good ol’ Smurf look! As for the durability, it keeps up really good, the Aizome doesn’t fade quickly as some cheaper ones could. The Himo don’t fade as quick either. In my experience it dries very quickly even if the Keiko was super intense; any ripe smell just seems to go away unlike some Kendogi’s that do hold onto it. If you’re on the fence about this, don’t be. It’s a very good balance between affordable and ultra premium even if it’s for a Shinsa or special occasion, you won’t be sorry.

I am 185, I have had uniforms from other brands and the sizing on kendostar is on the longer side compared to what I have. For example my current old uniform is size 5, the kurenai keikogi is much longer nearing the knees and the sleeves cover partially my kote, and I ordered a 4L, so I assume most people my height should order the regular 4. My old hakama is size 28, so I ordered the same 28 - too long by about 6-10 cm. The hakama himo from the koshita seem to be short for my taste, all my other hakamas can reach the back of my hips after being tied in the front, so I will have to extend them. The sizing chart is maybe not very clear what part is how long because I clearly remember measuring myself and thinking it will be ok. Having said that, I did the purchase like this on purpose - longer clothing can be shortened with a trip to the tailor. As far as quality my older gi and hakama seem to be of similar quality and they costed about $150 10 years ago. Inflation.

These uniforms are top notch. We received two with embroidery on the hakama as a wedding gift and we couldn't be happier. The top is super comfortable due to the mesh lining and doesn't chafe even on first use. It also dries super fast and takes quite a bit of practice before it starts to smell and needs washing. The hakama are nice and thick, and holds its pleats beautifully. The embroidery is also beautiful and the process of getting the custom make was quick and easy. All in all another wonderful product from kendostar.

The Kurenai gi and hakama looks incredibly great and high quality. Both of them are reasonably lightweight, comfortable while still give a premium look. Also the pleat lock stiching saves me from folding hassles. I wore them in both recent grading and tournament and they were perfect.

Very nice hakama. I especially like the reinforced pleats so that the folding is very easy and it immediately takes the correct shape (most likely also due to it being very new).
