Lightweight Shoaizome Kendogi

The KURENAI Kendogi is made using a special soft mesh lining, which makes it extremely soft and comfortable to wear. It also helps sweat evaporate more easily, meaning the Kendogi dries quickly after practice.

It is perfect for Kendoka looking for a traditional yet light Kendogi for tournaments, grading, or regular training.

KURENAI is the first genuine Sei-Aizome cotton Hakama to use our popular Pleat-Lock stitching. Each important pleat is fixed in place by two rows of stitching, one row on the inside of the pleat and one on the outer crease, helping the shape stay clean and crisp.

This means KURENAI looks sharp when worn, and folding after practice becomes much easier because the pleats naturally fall back into place.

Important Aizome Care Note

Because KURENAI is dyed with genuine Aizome, the colour will bleed. The indigo dye may rub off or stain objects, other clothing, and the wearer’s body. This is a normal and natural feature of genuine Aizome Kendo uniforms.

Please take care when washing. We recommend hand washing separately in cold water, without soap or detergent.

‘KURENAI' - Seiaizome Lightweight Kendogi & Cotton Pleat-Lock Kendo Hakama Uniform Set

I am 185, I have had uniforms from other brands and the sizing on kendostar is on the longer side compared to what I have. For example my current old uniform is size 5, the kurenai keikogi is much longer nearing the knees and the sleeves cover partially my kote, and I ordered a 4L, so I assume most people my height should order the regular 4. My old hakama is size 28, so I ordered the same 28 - too long by about 6-10 cm. The hakama himo from the koshita seem to be short for my taste, all my other hakamas can reach the back of my hips after being tied in the front, so I will have to extend them. The sizing chart is maybe not very clear what part is how long because I clearly remember measuring myself and thinking it will be ok. Having said that, I did the purchase like this on purpose - longer clothing can be shortened with a trip to the tailor. As far as quality my older gi and hakama seem to be of similar quality and they costed about $150 10 years ago. Inflation.

Veramente un ottimo completo, io l’ho acquistato perché cercavo un set tradizionale da utilizzare negli allenamenti settimanali, soprattutto che si piegasse velocemente. Con questo set ho soddisfatto tutte le mie esigenze, il gi é comodo morbido e piacevole sulla pelle, mentre l’ Hakama è bellissima, resta dritta in posizione essendo di un cotone abbastanza robusto e soprattutto la cucitura delle pieghe è discreta e non troppo visibile. Io sono 185 ed le taglia gi 5 e 27 Hakama sono perfette. Sono rimasto molto soddisfatto del set veramente un buon prodotto

Absolutely love this Gi and hakama. The no nonsense stitched pleats in the hakama makes folding simple and neat. Love the weight of the cotton hakama good for both summer and winter training. The Gi is a nice weight and really quick to dry, the sleeves are a bit longer than some I have had. Love the weight of the Gi. Very fast delivery as always.

Fits taller kendoka I'm 200cm tall, average build, and this set fits me comfortably. I ordered the largest options of both gi and hakama. Sleeves are not too short and hakama covers legs even without tying it lower. I've been using Kurenai for 8 months by now and washed it multiple times. Still looks as good as the first day using it. Some wear can be seen on shoulders where the do himo is, but it's due to the coarseness of the himo. Feels really comfortable whether it's really hot or cold. By now the range of temperature where I have used this set varies between -25 to +35 degrees celcius. I ordered embroidery to my hakama and it turned out great! Colour is vivid and katakanas are easily readable. Premium feel and premium look, worth every penny. Highly recommended!

Top Quality Gi/Hakama Bought this for a recent shinsa and had lots of comments from peers and others about it! Gi is cotton but feels very light, the hakama also feels very light in comparison to my other cotton hakama however it's still top-notch quality. If you always have trouble trying to fold the pleats on the cotton hakama, do yourself a favour and grab this set because it's pleat-locked which I believe is still KS-exclusive. 5/5.
