Kirari-zashi Kendogi

The single layer KIYOI Kirari-zashi Kendogi is made using a special Kirari-zashi weave. This makes the Kendogi extremely soft and comfortable, while also helping sweat evaporate more easily, meaning it dries very quickly after training.

What is Included?

This product includes 1 x KIYOI Shoaizome Kirari-zashi Kendogi.

Important Aizome Care Note

Because KIYOI is dyed with genuine Aizome, the colour will bleed. The indigo dye may rub off or stain objects, other clothing, and the wearer’s body. This is a normal and natural feature of genuine Aizome Kendo uniforms.

Please take care when washing. We recommend hand washing separately in cold water, without soap or detergent.

Lovely hakama and am excited for seeing how well it retains it's pleats given the pleat lock. Initially I thought it was oversized, however, on research it seems cotton hakama will shrink by a few % over time. Why does it not surprise me that Kendostar has paid this much attention to detail with the design of it's products. After a wash or two, I suspect it will be a perfect fit.

The quality of the gi and hakama is superb. Everything is solidly put together and can stand up to strenuous use, yet it's also very comfortable to wear. While I can't speak to high-level testing, the Kiyoi set seems useable for everyday practice, competition, and testing. And KendoStar's shipping was super fast.

Dear Andy, the items arrived in time. I obviously tried them on at once, they are perfect and comfortable. I have already known this type of gi, because I ordered one of the same brand a few years ago. So I asked that kind on purpose. I chose this hakama because of the extra sewing along the foldings. I will put the hakama away for special occasions when I have to look good. The tsuba and dome are ok. I am convinced that I will enjoy every minit when I am going to wear my new garment. It’s a beautiful and cozy hakama. I have no idea how to improve it! I’m 1,87m and bought the size 27 one. I’d say a smaller size with my height would also work but I prefer my hakama to be on the longer side.

This hakama is a great balance between weight and comfort. It is solid enough that it hangs nicely and holds its pleats well, but it doesn't feel cumbersome. If you want a hakama that will look great for formal occasions like grading but will also work great for standard practice, this is a fantastic choice.
