This book differs from most others because it is is specifically directed towards kendo instructors. Much more than a typical "how-to" book. Useful methodology and teaching points are covered. Includes excellent history of kendo. Expense is justified by the countless color photos. If you are 4-dan or above you should have this book.

Recommend for all levels This is not only a good book for doing kendo basics like reiho and kihon waza, but also for supplementary things. I particularly like the shinai tying diagrams in the back of the book for help with reminding my student how to repair their shinai. Recommend for anyone looking to improve on how to teach kendo; as well as, anyone looking to learn with limited access to a sensei!

The Kendo Bible If I can only have one book for Kendo, I will choose this book. This book puts all the basics and fundamentals of Kendo into words in a way that is both concise and easy to understand. As a beginner in Kendo, this book is really helpful because it captures all the finer details that are often looked over or missed during practice, from wearing the Bogu and Rei to all the different Waza and even Shiai. What's best is this is only a one-time investment that I believe will continuously help me as I progress further in my Kendo journey.

Back to the Basics Very well made book, takes you from the very beginning of what Kendo even is to the practical application of every important technique there is. The pointers given at the end of each technique is especially useful to remind myself on what to focus on during practice.

Perfect instructional book for all levels With instruction for many techniques and explanations for the Spirit needed. This book removes the issue of a misunderstanding in form & function. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. A correct picture is worth even more. If the picture to show correct technique is from an overhead angle, it is! This is truly an A to Z instructional manual.

One book to rule them all This book is great if you are instructor or just a regular kendoka. If you want to study kendo on your own, it has great explanation and pictures how to do the basics and some advanced techniques. For instructors, it has great points how to advice your students for the right direction.

Amazing! Absolutely amazing! I’ve been reading it on my way to my dojo and so far it has been a treasure! Very clear explanations for each Japanese word and concept with very large pictures to help me paint a picture in my head. 45 pounds might seem expensive, but in my opinion it is definitely worth the price! I have no major issues with this book whatsoever! Thank you Kendostar for the fast shipping as well! The book came in pristine conditions. Now if you excuse me, I need to go back and finish reading my book ;).

The Official Guide for Kendo Instruction - All Japan Kendo Federation

Essential reading Although titled “The Official Guide for Kendo Instruction” this is a valuable resource for both students and instructors alike. This is the second edition. Unfortunately, not possessing the first edition, I am unable to comment on any major changes that might have been introduced. Chapter 3 on kendo instruction should be essential reading for all instructors and those considering starting their own dojo. Techniques are clearly illustrated with excellent quality photographs and accompanying explanations and teaching points for instructors to look for, although it’s not always easy to convey kendo’s dynamism in photographs. The final section is a useful glossary of terms. My only criticism is that a few (and only a few) typographical errors have managed to sneak in to the final printed version.
