This Shinai is crafted in the rare Koshiki-gata (古式型) style, replicating the feel and balance of Shinai used in the early days of modern Kendo. With an extremely straight profile and evenly distributed weight, it offers a distinctly different experience from modern Dobari or even typical Koto styles.

An excellent koto-gata shinai. Well balanced from tip-to-tip creating a nice weight and impact feedback adding to crisp sae, and with a tsuka diameter at 25-26mm that allows for flexibility in the hands and rapidity of cuts this shinai immediately became my daily AND shiai shinai. For the person who wants to control the centre, create unquestionable ippon-uchi-no-waza without compromising on kensen flexibility, this is the shinai for you.
I've been looking for this type of truly, all-over-the-lenght straight koto shinai for quite some time. Glad I found it in Europe and didn't have to shop it form Japan, since most of koto shinai here, quality aside, are not thoroughly straight like this one. It also as a shorter tsuka, which I didn't realize before shopping; this makes everything more comfortable for a 5' 8" guy as I am. I train 3 times a week. I know the durability is affected by many factors, and now it's too early to say, but I'm satisfied and i hope it will last long time.
