Navy colour dyed Shinai bag with dragonfly pattern.
In Japanese culture, Tonbo, which means ‘Dragonfly’ in English, is a well-known symbol of the Samurai. Tonbo were popular with warriors, due to the fact that they are only ever able to fly forwards – they are unable to fly backwards. For this reason, they were known as ‘Kachi-Mushi’, or the ‘insect of victory’. During the Sengoku Jidai (Japanese warring states period), Tonbo were commonly seen decorating helmets, armor and swords of warriors, in order to inspire them never to retreat.
The motto reads ‘Fudoshin’, which in English, means ‘The heart that cannot be moved’.
Holds up to 3 size 37, 38 or 39 Shinai.
