The Original KendoStar Ultimate All-Purpose Shinai was created to be the one Shinai you can confidently use in almost any situation. It is designed to feel light and manoeuvrable without becoming too tip-light, giving it the balance needed for fast, repeated attacks while still allowing a solid, satisfying strike.

Made from select cuts of Madake bamboo and fitted with quality leather parts, this model is a dependable choice for regular Keiko, Shiai preparation, seminars, grading practice, and long-term training.

Designed to Be the Perfect All-Purpose Shinai

This Shinai has been designed to perform well in both regular Keiko and Shiai. The balance is intended to make it feel easy to use and quick to move, while still retaining enough presence at the tip to avoid weak or scrappy striking.

It is suitable for multiple attack Kendo, sharp footwork, and fast exchanges, while also giving a solid feel for Kendoka who prefer powerful one-shot techniques.

Balanced Without Encouraging Light Hitting

The aim was to create a Shinai that feels responsive and easy to use, while still encouraging strong, committed, correct Kendo.

The four staves of this Shinai are cut from quality Madake bamboo, a bamboo species traditionally valued in Japan for Shinai making. It is known for durability, responsiveness, and the solid feel it can provide when striking.

This shinai do his job Standard model, but well balanced. It can be used not only for the regular daily practice, but also for shiai (if you like a weight distribution more concentrate on the top of thw sword) truly recommend for the beginners and not only.

Great quality and durable! I've been using this shinai for over nine months of weekly practice now and it had held up great - is practically good as new. Naturally this can't be compared with those practising much more often or more intensely, but I'm very happy with my one and only shinai (for now). Nicely balanced as well.

Nice standard Shinai I've been training since around October 2021, so about 11 months at this point, and my Shinai was starting to get a bit 'loose'. I ordered this one with a view to relegating the first one to 'spare' and it feels great. It's nice and tight again and feels great to practice with.

Amazing product and shipping service I travel between Spain and London a lot, so the fact that it could ship to Spain as easily as it does in London is absolutely amazing when it comes to availability of Kendo products. For the Shinai itself, it is one of the best you could possibly get around here and it truly speaks for itself once you hold it in your hands. Good weight, balance and durability.

Kirikaeshi anyone?! I have different types of shinai but always end up practicing with this all rounder. What I really like about this shinai is they are just perfect for me without being overly light on tip and durable enough for lots and lots of kirikaeshi.

Original KendoStar Model Ultimate ALL-PURPOSE Shinai - SINGLE SHINAI

Great Shinai! I am about a month in learning Kendo, and the Shinai is holding up well - even after hours of practicing both striking and receiving of Kirikaeshi with partners. No chips or splinters have shown, and is holding up well. I can't really compare it to other Shinai, but I do feel it's pretty well-balanced and doesn't feel hindering (size 39). Definitely recommend!

Original KendoStar Model Ultimate ALL-PURPOSE Shinai - SINGLE SHINAI

Ready for anything. I was very surprised with the weight of this shinai. Its lightweight enough for more technical movement but also able to have a good pop on strikes. I have put it through the test on my padded striking pell at home for near a thousand strikes. The staves bend well and i will honestly be getting more of these in the future.
