MIRAI Lightweight Protective Junior Bogu Set
A lightweight and comfortable junior Bogu set designed to give younger Kendoka the protection and freedom of movement they need as their Kendo develops.
The MIRAI Junior Bogu Set is designed specifically with younger Kendoka in mind. Junior Bogu needs to protect effectively, but it also needs to be light, flexible, comfortable, and easy for a child to move in. MIRAI balances those requirements with a practical Orizashi specification built for regular Keiko.
Extra cushioning is concentrated in areas that receive frequent impact, while the parts of the Bogu that need to move with the body are kept softer and more flexible. This helps younger Kendoka train with confidence without making the set unnecessarily heavy or restrictive.

Key Features
-
Orizashi construction
Durable, lightweight woven reinforcement gives the set a practical balance of protection, flexibility, and everyday usability. -
Protection where younger Kendoka need it most
Thicker cushioning is used around areas that regularly receive strikes, helping reduce impact during Keiko. -
Flexible construction
Softer areas around the shoulders, waist, and other moving sections help avoid the stiff or cumbersome feeling that can make junior Bogu difficult to use. -
Lightweight specification
Designed so that younger Kendoka can move naturally and concentrate on their Kendo rather than fighting against heavy equipment. -
Onigumo Mune design
The reinforced resin Do is finished with the traditional and distinctive Onigumo Mune pattern.
Designed for Confidence in Bogu
For children, the first experience of being struck while wearing Bogu can be intimidating. MIRAI is designed to provide reassuring cushioning in the main impact areas while remaining light and mobile enough for proper junior Keiko.
Protective Without Feeling Heavy
The specification concentrates protection where it matters rather than simply adding bulk throughout the set. This keeps the Bogu comfortable and manageable for younger users.
Made for Real Junior Keiko
Durability, flexibility, and comfort are balanced for the demands of regular training, giving children a set that can support them as their Kendo progresses.
Men
The Men uses a hybrid construction designed to balance impact absorption and flexibility. The crown area is more heavily cushioned to help absorb repeated Men strikes, while the Men-dare are kept more flexible so they sit naturally around a smaller frame and do not restrict shoulder movement.
The Men uses a lightweight Duralumin Mengane, helping keep overall weight down while maintaining the protection required for regular practice.
Kote
The Kote use a lightweight Orizashi construction with additional protection around the main strike area. The palm is made from durable synthetic material selected to provide a comfortable grip while standing up to regular use.
The overall construction is intended to remain flexible enough for younger hands to grip and control the Shinai naturally.
Do
The set includes a lightweight reinforced resin Do, chosen for its balance of durability, impact resistance, and manageable weight.
The Mune is finished with the traditional Onigumo design, giving the set a distinctive but classically styled appearance.
Tare
The Tare uses lightweight Orizashi construction and is designed to remain flexible around the waist. Reinforcement is added to key wear points to improve durability, while the narrower and more flexible waist section helps achieve a secure fit on junior Kendoka.
