Born from Hope, and Crafted for Progress in Kendo.

100% MADE IN JAPAN

Nanahoshi’s KIRA Series Bogu Set carries a name that means “prayer” and “star.” This series was developed after the Great East Japan Earthquake to support recovery and preserve the tradition of Japanese-made Kendo equipment. Each star represents every Kenshi, and this Bogu set embodies a wish for happiness and good fortune for all.

This is not mass-produced gear. KIRA combines Nanahoshi’s focus on safety and functionality with patterns refined from years of custom orders, achieving ease of use, durability and elegant appearance. Built in Kuji City - Japan’s historic sewing capital - it offers a supportive, protective feel born from tradition and crafted for modern Kendo.

Trusted across Japan, it is now available to international customers only through KendoStar.

Made With Purpose, Rooted in Philosophy

Nanahoshi is more than a brand—it is a mission to preserve the soul of Japanese kendo equipment-making. In a world flooded with mass-market products, Nanahoshi upholds the tradition of purely domestic production using Japanese materials, Japanese labour and Japanese artistry—with the goal of passing this heritage on to future generations.

Inside the workshop, master craftspeople collaborate across roles and generations. Their guiding principle is simple: “We want to make something truly good, and bring joy to every customer who wears it.”

Your Bogu. Your Story. Built to Last.

With a production time of approximately 4–6 months, this isn’t just a purchase—it’s a journey. Every cut, stitch and panel is crafted with the belief that equipment should elevate the kenshi who wears it.

And when your bogu arrives, it won’t just fit your body—it will reflect your spirit.
