The KENSEI Gold Smoked Dobari Shinai is the smoked competition model of the KENSEI Standard range. Its Dobari body, fuller through the lower section, and its slim Jissengata tip keep the weight towards the hands, so the tip feels light and the Shinai moves quickly.

Within the KENSEI Standard range, each model is identified by the colour of its 剣星 mark, and this model carries the mark in gold, 金.

A Dobari Shinai has a broader body, fuller through its lower section, and a Jissengata Shinai a thinner tip. KENSEI Gold combines both, bringing the balance closer to the hands for a light feeling towards the tip and quick, responsive handling.

It is shaped for fast, competitive Kendo in Shiai and Ji-Geiko.

All our Shinai are made according to the All Japan Kendo Federation and International Kendo Federation standards. The weights below are the minimum and the lengths the maximum set out in the All Japan Kendo Federation guidelines for each size.

Bamboo contains natural oil that dries out over time. To help your Shinai keep its proper weight, please oil it regularly.

It is the successor to our HIBANA Shinai, and the best pick if you appreciate HIBANA.

Second set of three of this “Hibana” series. They are really good! And way more durable than average jissengata shinai. Perfectly fine for everyday keiko use. As always, KS service second to none. Ordered on Wednesday, got it on Monday, at the other end of the world.

Super nice shinai. Very nice feeling on the hands, it feels head-light but not too much, gives you a good feedback from the tip of your shinai. The bamboo and fittings are first class, and the smoked looks adds a bit of finesse to it. I'll definitely buy more of these in the future! As always, quality products and customer service second to none. Order these from Argentina on a Thursday evening, next Wednesday the DHL buy was ringing my bell.
