The Nanahoshi Designed by TETSU range is available in three models: Essential, Standard, and Premium. Each model is made in Japan by Nanahoshi, but the level of decoration, finish, and customisation differs.
Click any Men or Tare image below to view it full size in a new tab.
Essential Model
The Essential Model uses an Orizashi finish and offers the most streamlined specification in the range. It features much reduced Kazari decoration, and the Shokko cannot be customised. The Ago uses Batsu Kazari, and the Mune Shokko is Naname-zashi.
Standard Model
The Standard Model uses Orizashi reinforcement and offers a more decorative finish than the Essential Model. It is a superb choice for Kendoka who want an authentic Japanese made Bogu set with a strong balance of practicality, appearance, and value.
Please note that the Essential Model has fixed Shokko and decoration specifications. Shokko and Mune customisation options apply only where available according to the selected model and option set.
Custom Options
Depending on the selected model, you may be able to customise your Bogu with a choice of Shokko pattern, Mune design, and Do-dai finish. Please check the available options carefully before ordering.

Made With Purpose, Rooted in Philosophy
Nanahoshi is more than a brand. It is a mission to preserve the soul of Japanese Kendo equipment making. In a world filled with mass market products, Nanahoshi upholds the tradition of domestic production using Japanese materials, Japanese labour, and Japanese artistry, with the goal of passing this heritage on to future generations.
Inside the workshop, master craftspeople collaborate across roles and generations. Their guiding principle is simple: “We want to make something truly good, and bring joy to every customer who wears it.”
Your Bogu. Your Story. Built to Last.
With a production time of approximately 6 to 8 months, this is not just a purchase. It is a journey. Every cut, stitch, and panel is crafted with the belief that equipment should elevate the Kenshi who wears it.
And when your Bogu arrives, it will not just fit your body. It will reflect your spirit.
