All of our custom do are made to your exact specification and use the most premium materials available.
As each Custom Do is made to order, standard production time with basic black Do-Dai usually takes 10-12 weeks. However, this is intended to be approximate - sometimes it takes a little longer, sometimes it does not. In all cases, our craftsmen will work to the full extent of their capacity to produce your bespoke Custom Do, and you rest assured that it will always be worth the wait.

Very lightweight and looks cool!
My son is a huge Demon Slayer fan, and I wanted to reflect this with his love of kendo as a special birthday surprise. The goal was to capture the recognisable chequered design of Kamado Tanjiro in a way that felt subtle, stylish, and elegant,and I’m pleased to say the result exceeded all expectations. The entire process with KendoStar was incredibly smooth. They provided thoughtful design options and clear, helpful guidance throughout, which made everything straightforward and enjoyable. Most importantly, my son absolutely loves it. While the attached photo doesn’t quite do justice to the colours and detail, the finished do is beautifully crafted- a perfect balance of personalisation and refined design. Overall, this is a high-quality, bespoke piece that we couldn’t be happier with. Highly recommended.

Es hat lange gedauert, aber das Warten hat sich gelohnt. Ich habe endlich ein Do, dass von der Höhe her passt. Auch die angeraute Farbe, ist was ich mir vorgestellt habe.

There are a couple of points to be made about the custom-made do. As far as the size and quality of the product, I am satisfied. The do is exactly the size I requested, and the quality of the materials and the craftsmanship seem to be adequate. However, I do have two problems with the final product. The first one relates to the color of the door. The Do-dai was supposed to be a Kon Kiji color/version; however, the received color (as it can be observed from the photo) is not what is supposed to be. To be fair, I was warned by the seller that, being a custom-made product, the color might vary. However, the received custom-made do is pretty much black, which is the same color as my everyday do, and one of the reasons I decided to get a new one (and even to pay extra for it to be a bamboo one) is to change the color. The second issue relating to this purchase is the production and delivery time. The order was placed on June 26th, 2024, and the order was delivered on May 6th, 2025 - so almost a whole year. Once again, I am aware that this is a custom-made order, but the delivery time is simply not realistic (which can be confirmed by contacting other kendo equipment suppliers in Japan and outside of Japan). All in all, while I do think that the final product meets the quality standards, I would not purchase the same item again.

Excellent Another tale of excellent service at KendoStar - Before ordering a custom do, I had questions which were answered by e-mail same morning. The actual process is effortless, and after the requisite wait period (expected for custom orders), I received my purposefully understated yet individualized do which I will wear for years to come!
3 in one Normally I don't like 3 in 1 products. But here I am very satisfied with a 3 in 1 concept: 1. Very good material 2. The material was delivered with care and literally very nicely packed and 3. the service is also very good. I enjoy my kendo with great pleasure.
Outstanding service, custom Doh that will be much loved As always Andy Fisher and team at KendoStar surpass themselves in the personal service for bespoke bogu pieces. Andy was his greatest advert, I essentially saw him wear a glorious Doh in a photo he posted. That was it, I just had to have one like it, both colour and unique mune not seen before. I asked for the mune design (pattern) to be flipped and tailored smaller for a female frame. Fantastic, worth the wait (we're in pandemic lockdown, so waiting wasn't a problem). It will not be an 'every session use' Doh, but a special seminar use Doh and/or exam testing Doh. For anything bespoke, Andy and team put in the care and effort that I'm not sure other suppliers may put in: and the Doh itself, super happy with.
Great looking DO All of us are looking for something different when it comes to how our bogu looks like. I was looking for a subtle addition of color, not too much just a little. Thank you, KS for my new DO. The customization gave me exactly what I was looking for. The right amount of difference I was looking for. Not too much just right. Plus the quality is fantastic.
