In 2006 The National Team of the United States of America made history by becoming the first team in history to beat Team Japan at the World Kendo Championships. Following their heroic semi-final battle, they met Japan's would-be rivals Korea in a nail-biting final that exhibited simply impeccable Kendo from the members of both teams:
