In 2003 Naoki Eiga Sensei achieved the 12th consecutive victory for Team Japan, in Glasgow, UK. The nail-biting finals of the team match resulted in a tie, with the decision falling to an 'Ippon-Shobu' battle between representatives from each team. Eiga Sensei represented Team Japan, and he faced Kim Kyung-Nam from South Korea. What ensued was a long, physically and spiritually enduring battle, culminating in one of the most iconic Ippons in modern Kendo history.
