The IKKYŪ Women's Koto Shinai is a Koto Jissengata Shinai made to the women's specification. Its straighter, traditional profile has a thinner bulge through its body, which moves the centre of balance towards the tip, so the tip carries through each strike with a solid, authoritative feel. The thinner Jissengata tip brings the balance a little back towards the hands, so it stays quick and adaptable.

Like every model in the Premium range, IKKYŪ is made to your specification: choose your fittings and Tsuru colour, or order the bamboo only.

IKKYŪ Women's Koto Jissengata Shinai with a straight profile balanced towards the tip, 24mm standard grip, and a choice of fittings

Traditional Profile, Competition Finish

A Koto Shinai is straighter, with a thinner bulge through its body, so its balance sits towards the tip. IKKYŪ is finished with a thinner Jissengata tip, which brings the balance a little closer to the hands, and a match-grade finish, with firm, thick-walled staves finished slim for a crisp, decisive feel on impact.

It suits Kendoka who favour committed Tobikomi-Waza and Ai-Waza from longer distance, and who also look for Ippon with Oji-Waza and combinations.

Made to Your Specification

Choose your fittings and Tsuru colour and receive your IKKYŪ fully assembled and ready to use, or order the bamboo only to fit with your own fittings.

Key Features

  • Women's specification
Made to the women's guideline weight, lighter than a men's Shinai of the same length.
  • Koto Jissengata profile
A straighter, traditional profile with a thinner bulge, so the balance moves towards the tip for a solid, authoritative strike, finished with a thinner Jissengata tip.
  • Match-grade finish
Firm, thick-walled staves finished slim, for a crisp, decisive feel on impact.
  • Standard round grip
A familiar round Tsuka, so the traditional feel comes from the profile rather than the grip. Approximately 24mm on size 39, measured on the bamboo without the Tsuka.
  • Choice of fittings
Three fitting options, or the bamboo only.
  • Choice of Tsuru colour
Seven Tsuru colours for fitted options.
  • Made to federation standards
Made according to the All Japan Kendo Federation and International Kendo Federation standards.
  • Sizes for women and juniors
Available in women's size 39, and in junior size 38.
  • Part of the Premium range
Each Premium women's model carries its own name in silver engraving.
