The MUSŌ Dobari Shinai is a premium competition Shinai with a conventional round grip. Its Dobari body, fuller through the lower section, and its thinner Jissengata tip both bring the balance closer to the hands, so it swings lightly and moves quickly, with no specialised grip to get used to.

Its name, 無双, means without equal. Like every model in the Premium range, MUSŌ is made to your specification: choose your fittings and Tsuru colour, or order the bamboo only.

MUSŌ Dobari Shinai with a broader profile, balance closer to the hands, 26mm standard grip, and a choice of fittings

Quick, Light Handling

A Dobari Jissengata Shinai has a broader body, fuller through the lower section, and a thinner tip, which both bring the balance closer to the hands. MUSŌ pairs these with a conventional round grip, so it feels light and quick in the hands while staying familiar.

It suits Kendoka who attack with a wide range of techniques: Shikake-Waza from close distance, fast combinations, Oji-Waza, Hiki-Waza, and Tobikomi-Waza driven by speed.

Made to Your Specification

Choose your fittings and Tsuru colour and receive your MUSŌ fully assembled and ready to use, or order the bamboo only to fit with your own fittings.

Key Features

  • Dobari Jissengata profile
A body fuller through the lower section and a thinner tip, both bringing the balance closer to the hands for quick, light handling.
  • Conventional round grip

  • Built for varied technique
    Suited to Shikake-Waza, combinations, Oji-Waza, Hiki-Waza, and Tobikomi-Waza.
  • Choice of fittings
Three fitting options, or the bamboo only.
  • Choice of Tsuru colour
Seven Tsuru colours for fitted options.
  • Made to federation standards
Made according to the All Japan Kendo Federation and International Kendo Federation standards.
  • Sizes for men and juniors
Available in men's size 39, and in junior sizes 37 and 38.
  • Part of the Premium range
Each Premium model carries its own name in bronze engraving.
