The Original KendoStar Model Ultimate ALL-ROUND Shinai has been especially designed to be the one Shinai that is perfect for ALL occasions, and perfect for ALL levels. It features a good balance, without being brittle, so it can be used for both practice, and for tournaments. The balance is also designed to feel like it is lightweight, and manoeuvrable, but without being overly light at the tip, meaning it doesn't encourage scrappy Kendo, or light hitting. Instead, it is easy enough to wield, even for multiple attacks - but also delivers a solid feel, so it is also good for those who like to perform powerful, one-shot style techniques.
Top quality leather fittings are used, which includes a single folded Tsukagawa (grip). This is to keep the price affordable, but at the same time it is made from genuine Japanese leather, from Nara prefecture, so despite being a single folded, the durability is not compromised. The 4 staves of the Shinai are cut from premium quality Madake bamboo, the species of bamboo that is native to Japan. This is considered by many Japanese Sensei to be the best material for Shinai, as not only is it durable, but it gives a solid 'feel' when striking.
