Awesome! Sturdier (and heavier) than it looks!

Absolutely love it! It finally allows me to suburi at home due to the short length. The weight is very nice to strengthen your arms but does not feel too heavy. It is also very well balancend! Definitely recommend!

Great for suburi at home or office.

Weighted and balanced like a steel katana I bought this as a replacement for my carbon steel iaito for indoor training. I fitted it with a woven leather tsuba and traditional leather tsubadome, also from KendoStar. In this way, the Furisen will balance 11-12cm away from the tsuba and weigh just under 1100g. It has the exact same balance as my real katana, and weighs only 100g more. It handles almost exactly the same. The only difference is that a real sword's grip is oval and the Furisen's is round, but because you can feel the seam of the tsukagawa, you still have tactile feedback to maintain your hasuji and it still feels quite natural. If you want to use a leather tsuba, you may need to very slightly enlarge the tsuba's opening with a round file. Not much, the procedure will last only a few seconds. The leather tsubadome fits as-is. The build quality and fit and finish is phenomenal. 100% recommended as an indoor iaito for kenjutsuka and iaidoka, and as a suburi tool for kendoka.

Excelent for apartment keiko! Im very pleased with this Suburi Shinai, it allows me to do large swings inside the apartment without touching the roof, plus the weight is high enough to workout your arms and mind your form when you are tired.

Home shinai This item is really useful thing because now I can do kendo at home without being afraid of destroying my room. It also makes my mum feel calm and happy.

It's a beast! Wow, a solid heavy piece of Bamboo. I can now practice indoors (low ceilings). You certainly feel the effect of the 1kg after a short time. Going to be great for building strength and stamina.

Perfect As a total beginner I wanted to practice the basic movements also indoors at home (as dojos are still closed due to the pandemic). Having the ceiling not too far away, even though it sort of worked with a standard shinai, I was still "blocked" mentally as I was afraid to hit the ceiling with every move. That time's over now :) The shinai came even more solid than I expected it to be, it's just perfect.

Essential! I put off buying one of these since I had a cut-off shinai I used for home practise, but I wish I hadn't! The weight is extremely satisfying, and promotes slow, correct suburi. Takes some getting used to for sure, but I can already feel the benefits. Can't recommend enough!

Everything Perfect Great item! Short but heavy, good for building Kendo muscles. As a beginner in Kendo, I'm practising Suburi with this compressed shinai not only at home but also at the office. Kendo is a meditation for me, and this cute thing helps me implement practice everywhere. Totally love it. In addition, the shipment was incredibly fast. Have to get another one! OK, so I bought this on behalf of a student, but I tried it out for one of my suburi sessions and I absolutely LOVED IT! Perfectly balanced and best of all, it's short enough to be used in an area with low ceilings! I seriously have to get myself one soon!

Cute indeed! It's quite cute to look at, heavy (1kg, almost two shinai) but after training suburi with this for a few weeks, a normal shinai feels really light! Good for training indoors, with low ceilings.

great for practicing at home Great if you haven't got high enough ceilings to use a regular shinai. Although shorter than a normal shinai, the furisen is quite a bit heavier which will help strengthen your muscles. Good quality product and great customer service!

Cute! I own both this suburi shinai and suburi bokken. I havent weight them, but when looking at spec they should both fall into the same ball park. But at least to me, suburi bokken feels heavier and i guess that is because of the length. As you can see on the picture, blade part of it is shorter, but much thicker, therefore weighs more than your normal shinai, but tsuka length is identical to it. So using it inside a apartment is nice. So no more hitting walls, making holes in them or drawing lines on the ceiling. Also worth mentioning is that leather parts on it are really good. Everything about it screams of quality and ease of use. Also it looks so cute, like cartoonish miniature shinai! I mainly keep it beside me when watching a movie to make one handed swings or when wanting to do suburi, really convenient. And did i mention that it looks so cute! Cute!!

Perfect I bought this suburi shinai for me and a friend from the dojo. We both love it. I can easly do my morning suburi the moment I get out of bed. No more suburi's in the rain for me!

useful for strength training really good for strengthening but use carefully, quite heavy so you will need to build up use.

Heavy but evective I bought this „suburi (training) shinai“ to train at home, as I’m still at the beginning of my journey in kendo. I'm very pleased and satisfied with the workmanship! I hope to strengthen my tenouichi but I think for katate-suburi this shinai is to heavy...(or I’m still to weak ) All in all I would definitely buy it again and will show&tell my fellow kendoka in my dojo!

Great for strength training Its absolutely fantastic for strengthing my tenouichi, but sadly the flat I live in has a really really low ceiling, so sadly I still have to do suburi either in seiza or outside :( But it is still a fantastic product that has helped strengthen my cuts (I don't have much power behind my cuts) and due to the training with this I am far quicker too! I absolutely love it, I recommend it to anyone who has asked about strength training/how to have quicker cuts

Useful tool Weighting around 1 kg is pretty a gool tool for suburi. Some high ranked Sensei has adviced me to utilize it slowly. Very useful for indoor practicing, I would buy it again!
