Nice shinai I like the feel of this shinai when striking it somehow feels more flexible than the madake bamboo ones, the leather fittings on this one are the best ones I had so far. Cant say the balance point is further towards the hand than all purpose. Still really like using this shinai.

QUALITY Dobari Jissengata Shinai ‘JUNKI’ - SINGLE SHINAI

Irregular product The first time I bought the Junki shinai, I found it was outstanding for a dobari shinai. It had such a light feeling I could not even belive it would reach regulated weight. However the second time I bought this model, I didn't felt the same. I bought 10 junki and 10 basic shinai for the dojo, the junki felt just a bit more dobari than the gokuen one. Still a good shinai though

QUALITY Dobari Jissengata Shinai ‘JUNKI’ - SINGLE SHINAI

Dobari? TL;de: good shinai, subjectively short tsukagawa, oddly not-really-dobari. The shinai in themselves are good, well balanced shinai. Here are a few observations: The tsukagawa came too short for my taste. I'm 175cm tall, with proportionately long forearms, and had to put a longer tsukagawa than what was offered to get any good use from these shinai. Also, I noticed the center of gravity of these shinai was EXACTLY at the same spot as basic shinai (from another brand, not the KS all purpose), which made me wonder: are these really dobari? What's the point of dobari if you need to sacrifice even more durability than that to get the center of gravity closer to your hands? Will try other dobari-er shinai in the future, or stick with the KS all purpose, but won't repurchase this model.
