The SHIDEN Women's Large Grip Shinai brings together three features that draw the balance towards the hands: a Dobari body fuller through the lower section, a thinner Jissengata tip, and a thicker Tsuka. Made to the women's specification, it swings out very lightly and keeps the tip easy to control.

Its name, 紫電, means purple lightning, a classic image for the flash of a drawn sword. Like every model in the Premium range, SHIDEN is made to your specification: choose your fittings and Tsuru colour, or order the bamboo only.

Built for Close Distance

A Dobari body and a Jissengata tip each bring the balance closer to the hands, and the thicker Tsuka adds to the effect while giving the palms more to hold. SHIDEN swings out very lightly and stays under control at the tip.

It suits attacking Kendoka who build pressure and score at close distance, with quick combinations and fast exchanges.

All our Shinai are made according to the All Japan Kendo Federation and International Kendo Federation standards. The weights below are the minimum and the lengths the maximum set out in the All Japan Kendo Federation guidelines for each size.

Bamboo contains natural oil that dries out over time. To help your Shinai keep its proper weight, please oil it regularly.

SHIDEN is for women Kendoka who want a very light, easily controlled competition Shinai with a substantial grip.

It suits attacking Kendoka who work at close distance, from experienced competitors to competing juniors.

Choose Your Fittings

Fitted options are supplied fully assembled, with Tsuka, Sakigawa, Nakayui, and a Tsuru in your chosen colour. The options differ only in the Tsuka: the other parts are the same. Or order the bamboo only and fit your own.
