ICHIZAN Koto Shinai
A premium Koto Jissengata Shinai: a straighter, traditional profile with its balance towards the tip, and a thinner Jissengata tip, finished for competition.
The ICHIZAN Koto Shinai is a Koto Jissengata Shinai. Its straighter, traditional profile has a thinner bulge through its body, which moves the centre of balance towards the tip, so the tip carries through each strike with a solid, authoritative feel. The thinner Jissengata tip brings the balance a little back towards the hands, so it stays quick and adaptable.
Its name, 一斬, means a single cut. Like every model in the Premium range, ICHIZAN is made to your specification: choose your fittings and Tsuru colour, or order the bamboo only.

Traditional Profile, Competition Finish
A Koto Shinai is straighter, with a thinner bulge through its body, so its balance sits towards the tip. ICHIZAN is finished with a thinner Jissengata tip, which brings the balance a little closer to the hands, and a match-grade finish, with firm, thick-walled staves finished slim for a crisp, decisive feel on impact.
It suits Kendoka who favour committed Tobikomi-Waza and Ai-Waza from longer distance, and who also look for Ippon with Oji-Waza and combinations.
Made to Your Specification
Choose your fittings and Tsuru colour and receive your ICHIZAN fully assembled and ready to use, or order the bamboo only to fit with your own fittings.
