[CLASH OF TITANS] - Kokushikan University vs International Budo University

Many universities in Japan offer scholarships to students for various reasons, including academic and sporting achievement. For High School students who have had a successful competitive Kendo career, this opens opportunities to them with several universities around the country who proactively seek to recruit strong Kendoka for their teams.

The International Budo University (IBU), and Kokushikan University are both Kendo powerhouses, thanks to their active scholarship programme for Kendoka. Here we can see the quarter-final match between the two institutions, from the recent Kanto Region University Championships - Kokushikan is in red, and IBU is in white :
