Kirikaeshi is one of the most important drills in Kendo, but to get the most value from it, both sides need to understand their role properly.
In Part 2 of this three part series, we look at correct striking and receiving in Kirikaeshi. This includes how the striking side should cut Sayu Men with correct distance, posture, rhythm, and intention, as well as how the receiving side should support the drill properly.
Kirikaeshi is not just about hitting quickly from side to side. Done correctly, it helps develop strong basics, sharp cutting action, good footwork, correct breathing, and a stronger sense of connection between both partners.
In this episode of Kendo Lesson, we break down how to make the Sayu Men section more effective, and why good receiving is just as important as good striking.
