YUGEN is made from premium Japanese materials, including top-grade Bushu Sei-Aizome dyed fabric, which is famous in the Kendogu industry from producing the most beautiful Indigo colour, also genuine Sei-Aizome dyed Deerskin for all leather reinforcements. All stitching on YUGEN is done using the 'Pitch-Zashi' style - which is a method popular in Japan, featuring longer than usual stitches, which allow for more flexibility, and better cushioning. This makes YUGEN extremely comfortable, whilst also being very protective. Orizashi fabric (woven cotton) is used to reinforce the Futon, with extra Deerskin reinforcement panels, at the top of the Men, and on the Mae-Obi of the Tare, increasing durability massively. This all makes YUGEN not lightweight, and quick drying, but also very comfortable and durable.
The Men is stitched using 'Naname-Gunome-zashi', which not only gives great durability and shaping, but also excellent flexibility and comfort. A light weight, IBB Dura Mengane (protective cage) is used, which features reinforced bars in the strike zones, for extra durability. Further, a genuine Deerskin reinforcement panel is applied at the strike zone, providing extra durability, where the Men needs it most.
Unique to the YUGEN is a special kind of Men construction, where reinforcement stitches are applied to the Menbuchi, where the Mengane is held in place. This is an extremely rare method of craftsmanship, which can only be completed by expert craftsmen.
The Kote are feature a Yakko reinforcement at the fists, increasing durability where the Kote make contact with those of the opponent. The wrist joint is made using an original cut, which is extremely flexible, whilst also being very durable. The palms are made using genuine smoked Deerskin.
A 50pc type toughened synthetic black Do-dai (body protector) comes as standard, and a Kurozan Mune, with your choice of design.
A comfortable, flexible, protective Tare is included, featuring 6 decorative lines of Kazari (decorative rope stitching), and 'Gunome-zashi' stitching is repeated on the Tare panels. Further, a geunine Deerskin reinforcement panel is applied at the front of the Mae-Obi, boosting durability where it rubs against the Do, thus completing a well balanced, durable and comfortable set of armor.
